Welcome to “This Week In My Kitchen”.
This is a weekly behind the scenes photo post, showing little snippets from my week in the kitchen.
You never know what you may find…maybe a teaser of a future post, maybe a little nugget or idea, maybe just a little peek into my life and home.
Welcome to My Kitchen
As soon as I returned from the Farmer’s Market this week with my CSA goodies, I put this bunch of garlic greens I received in water by my kitchen sink. As I showed you before, I always do this with my green onions.
Besides, homemade bread crumbs, garlic bread is a popular use for bread that is a few days old and past it’s prime. Just generously butter both sides of the bread, add garlic and bake with your meatloaf or other dish. Flip halfway through baking. Remember the toasting will happen on the side that is down, so lift and check it periodically.
I borrowed my grandmother’s 10″ cast iron skillet to make Frittata and have not yet returned it. I don’t know how I’ve lived without one for this long. I love this thing. Here I’m frying leftover mashed potatoes.
Towards the end of the week, I through a ham bone and potatoes in the crock pot along with all the veggies on hand that needed to be used up. This week, it consisted of carrots and bok choy from our CSA
One of the few convenience foods that we still in the pantry is Annie’s Homegrown Mac and Cheese. I usually dress it up with veggies and meat, but this week it was just plain Jane mac and cheese in a hurry before ball games.
I made the first popsicles of the season with my new molds. I opted for a fruit combo I had on hand: banana, kiwi and pineapple. I can’t wait for the taste test next week.
Every Friday night is pizza night in our house. Get my pizza crust recipe here. I make a spinach, carrot sauce for the kids since they don’t eat tomatoes at this time.
Well, that’s it for now. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you back again soon.
