Welcome to ”This Week In My Kitchen”.
This is a weekly behind the scenes photo post, showing little snippets from my week in the kitchen.
You never know what you may find…maybe a teaser of a future post, maybe a little nugget or idea, maybe just a little peek into my life and home.
Welcome to My Kitchen
Let’s just say that the first week of summer vacation got off to a stressful start. It’s an adjustment, you need to find a new routine and we’ve been active, on the go, and staying up late…we were all a bit crabby. Knowing that I’d had a rough day, my son yelled to me from the front door “mom, close your eyes”.
He come into the kitchen where I was making dinner. When I opened my eyes, he presented me with these that he had picked (with Grandma’s help). They have been adorning our kitchen island all week.
Last year on the last day of school, I picked my son up and surprised him with his Tiger’s baseball jersey, ball glove, a bag full of snacks and 2 tickets in hand for the Tiger game’s game that afternoon. As the end of the year approached this year, he excitedly asked “Are we going to do the same thing this year?!”
To his dismay, the Tiger’s did not have a home game on that day this year. He was heartbroken, but we found other fun adventures to do that day.
Instead of celebrating the last day of school, I decided to celebrate the first official day of vacation (Monday) with a night game instead. I have always packed him a special goodie bag and he looks forward to it. This year, it was changed up a bit (no cotton candy, and cracker jacks), but it still contained the two things he is always most concerned with…baseball cards and peanuts.
I used to never buy whole pineapples since I didn’t know how to best cut them and always ended up with a juicy overflowing mess and sloppy chucks of pineapple. Why did I not know that there were these handy little tools to cut the pineapple out? I just happened to find mine on clearance at a local store. Now, I’m always buying fresh pineapple. This week we used it for some smoothies and popsicles.
Remember the new to me cast iron cookware I acquired last week? Well, I started trying them out this week.
And that concludes this weeks little tour. I’m happy that you stopped by. I hope to see you back again soon.
