This afternoon we hosted a little celebration in honor of our little princess turning FIVE years old. And what would a birthday be without cake…cupcakes to be exact. Plus ice cream. And you know in our house, that means from scratch. So guess what I was doing all day…baking, baking, and ice creaming.
Yes, in the 90 degree, high humidity weather…without AC. The heat when I turned the over on was actually not as bad as I had feared. Once the house is roasting hot, it’s still roasting hot with or without the oven. It was interesting trying to make ice cream and package it up in the heat. It was almost melting faster than it was freezing…but not quite. I did succeed in completing my last batch of ice cream today. (2 additional batches on preceding days, since the insert needs to freeze between).
On the menu was peanut butter candy surprise ice cream (1/2 gallon total), chocolate ice cream (1/2 gallon total), vanilla ice cream (1/2 gallon total), chocolate cupcakes (3 dozen total), and vanilla cupcakes (3 dozen total).
Just for fun, here’s a glimpse at the day’s activities of party preparation.
