This week, I took back up support….my mother, to help with our daughter. There was a lot less crying this week and only a few bouts of resistance. That was in largest part, because we went right when they opened at 2 and the band that had her freaking out last week had not began playing yet. So, I need to keep that fact on mental note for the coming weeks…go early!
This week, the newest produce that I noticed in large quantities were…
Strawberries (one of my favorite fruits)
and broccoli (one of my favorite veggies).
Once again, I sampled the featured food. This week it was microgreens. I don’t believe that I had ever tried these before. I found them “interesting”.
Another item I don’t believe that I have ever tried…turnips. I don’t know, I still don’t have a very strong desire to take any home with me. Maybe some day. But when/if they should ever show up in my CSA box, then I will just have to give them a shot. Until then…I’ll just take them home in a picture.
As always, I enjoy taking in the sights and displays. I think this stand is my favorite visually of all booths at this market.
And finally we headed down to pick up our CSA box.
It contained 5 garlic scapes.
A bunch of kale.
A pint of pea pods.
A bag of multi colored, gourmet salad blend.
A bag of spinach.
One pound of asparagus.
And finally a bonus crown of broccoli.
I’m looking forward to incorporating all these in our meals for the coming week. I see lots of salads in our meal plan.
