This week, my son and I ventured to the market alone. We left the little lady at home with Grandma. This time we had a chance to casually stroll, chat and take in the sights. If you recal, our daughter is a bit apprehensive of the market because of the noise of local bands that play there.
One of the first things my son noticed upon arriving was the vacant musician’s seat. He said, “Now that’s music that C would like…no music”. He’s a funny little guy.
Today they were doing canning informational demonstrations, sampling strawberry jam and handing out measuring cups and pectin (which I was unusually excited for since I’ve been meaning to pick some up to make a jelly and keep forgetting)
Each week I am on the look out for items that I had not noticed in the weeks prior, spotted this week were cucumbers.
The booth where these reside was quite the happening place…I wonder why 😉 Mmmmm
One booth boasted a side by side comparision of their free range eggs to those purchased at a store.
And finally we picked up our CSA goodies to find:
Black Seeded Simpson leaf lettuce
and Bok Choi
So far, so good with the CSA participation (our first year). I have thus far, successfully incorporated all the items into our weekly meals for the first two weeks. However, I really do need to be more proactive with the meal planning around what we will be recieving so I’m not stressing about using things up before they go bad. I believe it’s just another thing that will get easier as we chug along.
Thanks for stopping by. See you back again soon.
